JAMMU/ UDHAMPUR, Oct 28: The permanent staff of PHE/ Jal Shakti Department today held massive protest demonstration in the office complex of Chief Engineer PHE, at B C Road here and also at Udhampur PHE complex today and warned the J&K UT Administration to go for indefinite strike if they failed to solve the issue of daily wagers.
Hundreds of permanent employees led by Subhash Verma, Balbader Raj Vaid and Kartar Chand Dubey, senior members of PHE Employees United Front, assembled in the PHE Complex at B C Road today and held strong protest demonstration. They openly came out in the support of daily wagers who are on strike for the last 32 days.
They said that PHE daily wagers/ consolidated workers are the backbone of the system. They have given 15-20 years to the department. Over 70 % of the work force comprised of this segment. For the last 32 days the UT Administration did not bother to solve the issue. Permanent staff is over burdened with the additional work they are performing for the last over one month.
The Government should release their pending wages and also issue orders of their regularization. They also demanded filling up of all the vacant posts and conduct of DPC of all cadre twice a year. They warned to go on indefinite strike if the higher authorities in the Department failed to resolve the issue once for all.
Udhampur unit of the PHE Employees United Front led by Vijay Sharma Suraj Parkash, Banso Lal Riaz Ahmed and others also held strong protest today and extended full support to the PHE daily wagers agitation which entered 32 day today and warned the UT administration to go for indefinite strike if they failed to solve issues of agitating workers. They held J&K Administration and a few bureaucrats for the mess and said that in case of break down in water supplies in the region, entire Administration will be responsible which has turned insensitive to the issues of the agitating employees.
