KISHTWAR, Oct 28: Police solved a blind extortion case with the arrest of 3 persons and recovery of Rs 3 lakh.
This was disclosed by Additional Superintendent of Police Musheem Ahmed while interacting with media persons here today.
Divulging the details, ASP said that on October 24 this year, a complaint was lodged by a jeweller namely Sajid Ali Zergar, son of late Mohammad Isaq Zergar of Hidyal with Police Station Kishtwar stating that on October 22 he was contacted telephonically by some unknown persons who allured/motivated the complainant to sell him gold on cheaper rates and accordingly was asked to bring Rs 5 lakh with him at Drabshalla by the accused.
“On reaching Drabshala, complainant was asked to move to some abandoned place near Kandini. Sensing the honey trap of accused persons, the complainant tried to move back towards Kishtwar. On the way back, he was restrained forcibly with criminal intention and had been kept under the life threat and dire consequences. The accused persons robbed the hard earned Rs 5 lakh cash of complainant and fled from the spot”, ASP informed.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 201/2020 under Section 34, 392, 120-B and 506 IPC had been registered at Police Station Kishtwar and a special team was constituted”, ASP said, adding that on technical investigation, the team rounded up accused persons namely Yaseen Wahid, son of Abdul Wahid Ganie and Muzamil Shabir, son of Shabir Ahmed Both of Tehsil Bhaderwah District Doda, who during sustained investigation broke down and confessed their involvement into the preplanned crime and also narrated the role of one conspirator namely Khalid Kotwal, son of Khurshid Kotwal of Hidyal District Kishtwar, who played a key role in the execution of nefarious design of extortion.
ASP Musheem Ahmed informed that so far as three persons namely Yaseen Wahid, Muzamil Shabir and Khalid Kotwal have been arrested and Rs 3 lacks looted money has been recovered, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team led by SHO Kishtwar Inspector Abid Hussain Bukhari and assisted by SI Jatinder Singh Rakwal made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar Davinder Singh Bandral, Additional Superintendent of Police Musheem Ahmed and SSP Kishtwar Dr Harmeet Singh Mehta.
