JAMMU, Feb 6: As the 15 day ultimatum to the Government for conceding their demands expires today, the PHE Employees United Front announced to suspend work for 24 hours from tomorrow.
The announcement in this regard was made during protest demonstration by the employees at PHE Complex, B C Road, here this morning.

“More than thirty thousand PHE employees of Jammu region will suspend work for 24 hours from February 7 to 8 as the Government failed to positively respond to genuine and principally agreed demands of the Daily Rated workers who have been serving to the department for more than 25 years continuously,” said leaders of the Front.
The PHE employees are demanding regularization of the Daily Wagers as per SRO-64, month-wise wages for all workers, release of pending earned wages, giving wages as per Central Govt Minimum Wages Act, immediate withdrawal of the condition of 12 vouchers as imposed in reference to letter No. PWD/ Hyd/ Acctts/ Funds/ 12/18-19 dated: 06.11.2018 , conducting of DPC meeting for permanent employees and stopping recoveries from the employees relating to SRO-149 and SRO-59 (Notional Promotions).
The leadership of PHE Employees United Front appealed to the general public of the Jammu region to support the daily wagers who have been struggling for their livelihood. Regretting inconvenience to the general public due to the proposed strike, the Front leaders also announced that Hospitals and Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Katra will remain out of the purview of Kaam Chhor Hartal.
The senior leaders of PHE Employees United Front, who addressed the employees, included Bakshi Singh, Subash Verma, Balbadar Raj, Tanveer Hussain, Kartar Chand, Davinder Singh, Meetul Sharma, Deepak Gupta, Bhanu Partap Singh, Hoshiar Singh and Binkal Singh.
Meanwhile, reports from Mendhar said that the daily rated and consolidated trained workers of PHE Department staged a strong protest demonstration at Mendhar PHE office, this morning, under the leadership of Fayaz Ahmed Chauhan. They were demanding release the pending wages of four years from the Government and their regularization.
