PHE employees highlight demands

UDHAMPUR, Dec 3: A monthly meeting of workers of PHE Employees Association executive body of both the districts of Reasi and Udhampur under the chairmanship of Som Nath, senior leader of the association strongly criticised the attitude of national and regional parties for having no political agenda/ manifesto regarding regularization. It was also stressed for reducing the regularization period of workers from 10 years to five years.
Their other long pending demands discussed in the meeting pertained to immediate release of pending wages of 22 to 24 months of CP workers; Putting an end to shortage of staff to man the water supply schemes to ease the burden of already over-burdened workers; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by the workers; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act by enhancing the daily wage rate on a uniform pattern to Rs 350; Framing of a clear cut policy in PHE Department like Regular and Daily Wagers; and Immediate release of 17% DA in favour of State Government employees.
Mr Som Nath appealed all the PH employees and workers of Jammu province to be ready for agitation for getting their long pending demands conceded incase these were not settled at an earliest by the new Government to be formed.
Others who spoke in these meetings included Vijay Kumar Sharma, Rattan Singh, Makhan Chand, Baldev Raj, Chuni Lal, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Shiv Lal, Vaid Parkash, Sham Lal, Shamsher Singh, Prem Nath, Shanker Dass, Suraj Parkash etc.
