Petitions Committee to act as voice of underprivileged people: Pathania

SRINAGAR, June 18: Chairman of the Committee on Petitions, R S Pathania today invited the civil society of the Jammu and Kashmir to point-out if any, and present any case of administrative inaction, indolence and lapses before it so that justice is given to the aggrieved people.
Pathania was speaking at the preliminary meeting of the Committee in the meeting hall of Legislative Assembly here.
The Chairman said that any individual aggrieved of Government action/inaction can point out “any issue of public importance” by simply sending application addressed to the Speaker duly signed along with residential particulars provided that it is not sub-tribunal or authority or quasi-judicial body or a commission or which can be ordinarily raised in the State Legislature or for which remedies available under law.
Legislators Javaid Hassan Beigh, Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Bashir Ahmed Dar, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah and Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions regarding the working of the Committee.
The Committee took into consideration two petitions and desired to seek comments from the concerned departments in the first instance.
Among others, Additional Secretary, Assembly Naseem Jan, Deputy Secretary Assembly, Abdul Qayoom Mir and other officers and officials of the Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
