JAMMU, June 5: Protest demonstrations were held at different places in the city today against the PDD authorities for power crisis being faced by the people of Jammu region in general and city in particular.
Led by Jammu district president, Rajesh Gupta, hundreds of party activists held massive protest outside the PDD Office at Parade today to register protest against unscheduled power cuts in Jammu. They were raising slogans against the Chief Minister and Power Development Department (PDD).
Rajesh Gupta, while expressing grave concern over the problems being faced by the people of Jammu on account of unscheduled long cuts of electricity, said that in these days when the temperature is going up with each passing day, the PDD is adding to the problems of people.  The most unfortunate is that the Department is headed by Chief Minister himself who shed only crocodile tears but in practical he has failed to come up to the expectations of the people during the past five and half years.
He said that the Chief Minister, who is fearing defeat in the forthcoming Assembly elections, is trying to befool the people by making mega announcements but the sufferings of the people are still there as no one is serious to mitigate the same.
Subash Gupta, Sunil Dogra, Jaideep Sharma, Vikram Randhawa, Vinay Gupta, Kuldeep Kandhari, Vijay Mehra, Govind Sareen, Priya Jral, Mnumanav Mahajan, Tarseem Choudhary, Sat Pal Choudhary, Bharat Bhushan, Surinder Mahajan, Arun Sethi, Kanta Devi, Vidya Devi, Raju Khajuria, Daleep and others took part in the protest.
A joint protest by office bearers and activists of BJP, Rashtriyawadi Shiv Sena, Hari Market Association, Gumat Bazar Traders Association and New Hari Market Traders Association was held at Hari Market under the leadership of BJP Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency & BJYM Prabhari Yudhvir Sethi, Rashtriyawadi Shiv Sena President Vipin Hindu, Hari Market President Rajesh Raina, Gumat Bazar Traders Association Chairman Ashwani Gupta and New Hari Market President Gian Sharma was held against the State Government and its departments, particularly PHE and PDD. A large number of local residents of old city also joined them.
Yudhvir Sethi, while addressing the protesters, said that it is indeed unfortunate that the people are made to suffer even for basic commodities. The Government claims of bringing revolution but on ground nothing is visible like development or provision of minimum commodities required for survival. He said that the people deposit their dues for water and electricity in time and still they are not provided regular supply.
He warned the Government not to test the patience of the people and take immediate effective steps to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
Vipin Hindu, in his address said that the summers bring more sufferings for the people and the Government is more responsible for it. Although there are full-fledged departments like PHE and PDD with crores and crores of rupees as annual funds but still funds are not utilized for the public.
Vikas Dewan, Rakesh Kak, Gulshan Mahajan, Govind Sareen, Nathpal Choudhary, Govind Ram Sharma, Rajesh Dutta, Sumit Jain, Surinder Anand, Bittu Kumar, Sumeet, Kuldeep Mahajan, Rinku Sharma and others took part in the protest demonstration.
