SAMBA, Jan 29: The irate people of Rajpura, the border tehsil of district Samba, today demonstrated against the Jal Shakti Department regarding the scarcity of water. The protest was led by Rajpura BDC Chairman, Radha Krishna Sharma and Sarpanch Suresh Vasotra.
They accused the Jal Shakti Department of ignoring the people. The Sarpanch said that for the last 12 days, due to the fault in the motor of the tubewell the people are craving for drinking water, but the authorities are not taking any interest in solving the issue.
He warned that if the motor is not installed within days, the local people will take to the streets and protest. Laying all the blame on the Jal Shakti Department, Radha Krishan Sharma said that the Department is misleading the Government and people and is hell bent to make the Central Government’s plans a total failure. He said that if he needed he would take up the issue before LG. A large number of village women also participated in the demonstration.
