MENDHAR, May 25: People from Harni and adjoining areas today held protest demonstration on Mendhar-Surankote road and disrupted movement of traffic for about three hours.
They were protesting against the R&B authorities for their failure to repair this road which has been turned into bad shape. The locals of the area including Panchs and Sarpanchs came out on the road at around 8 am and sat on dharna at Harni. They shouted slogans against R&B Minister and Mufti Government. They alleged that this Government has failed to repair roads and improve facilities for the public. The movement of the vehicles was stalled on this road.
At around 11 am Naib Tehsildar, Harni Abdul Kabir and SHO Gursai P P Singh reached the spot. They convinced the agitating people and assured them to take up issue with concerned higher officials. Later, they lifted dharna.
