RAJOURI, Oct 28: A strong protest was staged by the locals of Rajouri town at Bus Stand here against the PDD Department for sending them huge electricity bills during this month.
The protest was led by the Councillor Sanjay Sharma along with the locals. The protesting pepole also blocked the road for some time to lodge their protest. The protesting peoples were demanding the action against meter readers. They alleged that PDD staff without visiting their houses/ establishments of the people entering readings at their sweet will while sitting in offices while supervisory staff concerned JE/ AE/AEEs etc failed to monitor their work.
They said there is total mess in the PDD and they are sending huge bills to the public. They strongly supported the privatization of PDD and even the PHE Department for better services.
The protecting persons alleged that the officials concerned through computers in Rajouri PDD station prepare bills on their own as per their wishes and don’t bother to read the actual consumption readings from the metres .
Sanjay Sharma while speaking on this occasion said that some officers are good and working with dedication but the a few people have spread a wave of terror and corruption at lower level. He said that the persons at the helm of affairs accept money for their huge bills and settle the bills under table or out of office. He demanded shifted of entire field staff staff.
The protesting people requested DDC Rajouri that the entire field staff and computer operators of PDD City office may be shifted immediately to ensore smooth functioning of the department.
