JAMMU, Mar 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Federation and Senior Citizens Civil Society have urged upon the J&K UT Administration to release 4% Dearness Allowance (DA) recently approved by the Union Government, for the J&K employees and pensioners as well.
In a joint statement issued by Federation president for J&K Sampat Parkash, provincial president for Jammu Sheikh Riyaz Ahmed, Mohd Aslam Malik chairman Chenab region, Banarsi Dass general secretary and Mohd Ashraf Mir secretary, J&K UT, the members requested the Lt Governor J&K UT, G C Murmu and Chief Secretary BVR Subramanium to consider the legitimate demands of over four lakh J&K employees and nearly 2.50 lakh pensioners.
They claimed that while Central Government has already release 4% DA in favour of Central Government employees and pensioners, but their counterparts in the J&K UT have been left out. They demanded that 4 % DA in favour of J&K employees and pensioners be released without any more delay.
They pointed out that Prime Minister of India made a solemn pledge recently that all allowances applicable to the Central Government employees and pensioners, beside Mediclaim Scheme shall be applicable automatically to the 6 lakhs employees/ pensioners of the J&&K UT . Unfortunately, the much delayed burning issue of payment of leave salary and due & drawn pay arrears is still pending/ unsettled after retirement of thousands of pensioners of the J&K Industries and Arts Emporium because of the mechanism prevailing in the JKI under the MD Javed Iqbal Khan, who continues to enjoy privilege of extensions even after one and half year of his retirement. They also demanded high level probe into the affairs of JKI and the grave irregularities committed during recent past.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Pensioners Federation led by Sampat Parkash also had in depth meetings this week with the Principal Secretary Finance, Pr Secy Health and Medical Education, Pr Secy Industries and Commerce, Secretary GAD, DG Codes and Secretary SWD and demanded settlement of pending issues.
