JAMMU, July 1:  In a meeting of senior leaders of the PCC which was chaired by Sham Lal Sharma, Senior Vice-President PCC and attended by Mula Ram, Raman Bhalla, Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma, Manjeet Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Th Manmohan Singh, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Majid Wani and Namrata Sharma, strong view were expressed against the failure of the BJP led Government in the State to implement GST in Jammu and Kashmir.
The leaders observed that it was unfortunate that BJP has been hoodwinking the people of the State and the business community in particular about enforcing GST. This callous approach has today alienated the State from the rest of the country, where GST has been implemented with the stroke of midnight.
The failure of the BJP-PDP Government has led to chaos and confusion in the market. The common man is not able to access the market services since the business establishments have stopped transactions due to non-availability of any clarity with regard to taxation on various items.
The PCC leaders said that the slogan of “One Nation One Tax” could not be extended to the State because of lack of vision and preparedness of the Government, which has failed to meet the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. They are feeling left out from the rest of the Country and slogan of One Nation One Tax seems hollow here and when the entire nation has adopted GST there are contradiction within the ruling coalition and BJP is just a mute spectator to the events.
The leaders regretted that the Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation is speaking against the GST and has given a bandh call. They said that J&K is an integral part of the country and no attempt should be made to vitiate the atmosphere which already is surcharged and tense. Implementation of GST is the need of the hour and it should be implemented at the earliest and BJP should answer the people of the State for their failure to implement GST, they added.
