RAMNAGAR, Jan 6: Ranbir Singh Pathania, former MLA and spokesperson, J&K BJP, while touring riff-raff areas of Ramnagar Assembly constituency, took stock of the people’s issues as well as ground-situation and addressed meetings at Dak Bungalow, Ramnagar, Dehma (Majalta).
He called for immediate restoration of damages caused due to incessant rains. “A crisis-like situation has been prevailing in areas of Ramnagar, Majalta, Dudu-Basantgarh and scores of villages where incessant rains accompanied with snowfall have caused whopping losses to person and property has been caused. Houses have collapsed. Almost every link road has been either damaged or closed and road-traffic has been suspended on major roads of the area. Power and fresh drinking water supply have been suspended. Villages have been in total dark since past five days. Given the situation in view of unprecedented rainfall/snowfall in areas of Ramnagar, Majalta and other parts of Udhampur, Chenani, Ghordi and Panchari, and the absence of Government touch over here, threats of a starvation and epidemic break-out are looming large,” he said.
He added that the shortage of essential commodities like LPG, kerosene, household articles and power and clean drinking water may bloom up into a calamity for the people putting up over here. Also, he alleged, the administration has done nothing to unfold the process for assessing the losses suffered by people on account of snowfall over here.
Pathania, while making a fervent appeal to Lt Governor, has sought unfolding of immediate crash measures so as to restore power, drinking water, ration supplies and spur up human and animal healthcare facilities in the area so that the miseries and hardships of the people over here could be curtailed. He also sought prompt steps for restoring/opening up of roads in the area. PDD & PHE authorities should take on war-footing the work of early restoration of supply lines in urban as well as rural areas, he added.
