The event provided students with an in-depth understanding of the proposed constitutional amendment, its implications, challenges, and potential benefits for India’s electoral system.
Anurag Thakur, a distinguished politician, sports administrator, and defense officer, has served as a Member of Parliament five times from Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh.
He is also the former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and holds the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.

During his speech, Thakur highlighted India’s growing global influence, stating, “With 65% of our population under the age of 35, India has the power to lead the world.”
He described the “One Nation, One Election” bill as “historic and transformative,” emphasizing its potential to enhance democratic efficiency, reduce election costs, and improve governance through policy continuity.
Students actively participated, raising questions about the legal, economic, and political aspects of the amendment.
