Panic among people after Weathex found in Sumb

SAMBA, July 12: Panic gripped in Sumb, a hilly region of Samba district, on Wednesday evening when local farmer Mangu Ram saw an electric flickering object in his field with a balloon and rope tied to it.
Baldev Singh, the Sarpanch of Patyari village informed the police. Getting information police reached the spot, took the area under their control and did not allow anyone to go ahead. A search operation was also conducted in the entire area. There was an atmosphere of panic in the whole area, and people were making different speculations.
Police also informed to the bomb disposal squad, the squad reached the spot and took possession of the said suspicious object. On investigation it was found that it is a device named Weathex, which is from the Meteorological Department. It has been left by the Department for weather information.
While giving information on this, SSP Samba, Benam Tosh said that it is a device named Weathex which was released by the Department and fell in the fields due to loss of contact or collision with something. When the villagers saw such an object for the first time, an atmosphere of panic was created in the area, he added.
