JAMMU, Aug 9: Within few hours after returning the BSF jawan Satyasheel Yadav in Suchetgarh sector, Pakistan Army violated ceasefire in Bhimber Gali (BG) sector of Poonch district last night by resorting to unprovoked firing on forward Indian positions.
Army spokesman Col Manish Mehta said Pakistan Army opened firing in violation of ceasefire agreement in BG sector of Poonch district at 10.30 pm last night using semi automatic and automatic weapons.
“Troops gave befitting reply using similar caliber of weapons,” he said.
Official sources said exchange of firing continued for about an hour but there were no casualties or damage on the Indian side in the firing.
Sources added that possibility of an infiltration attempt by the militants under covering fire by Pakistan Army can’t be ruled out. However, they said, no movement of the militants was spotted in the area.
