P.G. College Rajouri organizes seminar on Jagannath Azad

RAJOURI, Jan 30: The Post Graduate Department of Urdu of Government P.G. College Rajouri organized one day national seminar on the life and works of Prof. Jagannath Azad here, today.
Prof. Shohab Anayat Malik Dean Faculty of Arts, Jammu University was the chief guest whereas Prof. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed, Department of Urdu, University of Jammu was key note speaker on the occasion. In the welcome address, Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal of College who presided over the inaugural session, gave a comprehensive overview of the college including history, courses offered, achievements and future road map. Dr. Abdul Haq Naimi, convener of the seminar, introduced the audience about the pertinence of organizing this academic endeavor that began by the college anthem.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shohab Anayat Malik appraised the contribution of Prof. Jagannath Azad in the promotion of Urdu language in India as well as several other countries besides a pioneer of Alama Iqbal works. He also underlined the role of Prof. Azad in the promotion of communal harmony through his poetic literary works. In the key note address, Prof. Reyaz Ahmed detailed about the life and works of Prof. Jagannath Azad. In the technical session which was chaired by Prof. Shohab Anayat Malik, Dr. Reyaz Ahmed and Dr. Asif Malik from Department of Urdu, BGSBU Rajouri beside several young scholars presented papers on different aspects of Prof. Azad’s works based on poetry and his journey abroad.
The programme concluded with an impressive valedictory session in which Prof. Shamas Kamal Anjum was chief guest.
