Ornaments, cash snatched on gun point by robbers

KATHUA, May 21: In a Bollywood style, three armed robbers intruded into the house of an army personnel at Housing Colony Kathua late last night when the power supply was off in the town and decamped with the ornaments from the wife of the Army man and cash on gun point.
According to reports at 10 pm late last night three motor bike borne robbers entered into the colony with arms in their hands and parked their motor bike in front of army personnel Sanjay Kumar’s house. The two robbers forcefully trooped inside the house,  which was bolted from inside after the inmates did not respond their call to open the door.  At that time the wife of army personnel and her two children were alone in the house. The army personnel who is posted outside the State was on duty at that time.
The robbers on gun point asked the woman to handover her all ornaments and cash to them. The woman was left with no alternative except to yield and she handed over them her two ear rings, Nath (nose ring) and Rs 3000 in cash.
They also snatched the mobile phone of the lady so that she could not inform any one about the incident on phone. They also ransacked the house to find more ornaments after the lady said that she had nothing in the house except what she wore.
The robbers also threatened her children to know from them where the ornaments have been hidden by their mother. After searching the house they fled.
In the morning the lady informed the neighbours and police. The SHO Kathua and DySP visited the spot in the morning. The Kathua Police has registered a case and started investigations but no one has been arrested so far.
The incident created panic in the area and people accused the Police of not deploying its patrolling teams in the area. They said the majority of the residents in the colony are Government employees including army personnel who mostly remain out on duty and their families are exposed to grave risk. They also criticized the PDD for enforcing the night power cuts in the area.
The residents said they feel totally insecure and demanded that police patrolling in the area to check the movement of unwanted elements.
