HYDERABAD, Apr 9: Attacking the previous UPA regime for ‘not responding adequately’ to issues of national security, BJP president Amit Shah Tuesday said the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the country secure.
Addressing an election rally on the last day of campaigning for the Lok Sabha polls in Telangana, Shah made a strong pitch for return of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, saying only Modi can provide a strong government.
The biggest achievement of Narendra Modi government was making the country secure. “UPA government, Sonia-Manmohan government was there at the Centre for 10 years…. heads of soldiers used to be taken away. But there was no one held accountable for it,” he said.
The Modi government carried out air strikes and destroyed terror camps by entering the “house of Pakistan” in the aftermath of Pulwama terror attack, he said.
After the air strike by India, there were celebrations everywhere in India, while only at two places there was grief — one in Pakistan and another in Rahul baba and company’s camp,” he alleged.
Referring to the row over the comments of Congress leader Sam Pitroda, “the guru of Rahul baba”, he said the death of 40 jawans cannot be a “small thing”.
“If you want to do ‘ilu-ilu’ with terrorists, do it. But, this is Narendra Modi government. If a bullet comes from there, a cannon would go from here. A brick would replied with a stone,” Shah said.
He asked the gathering if a strong reply needs to be given and bombs dropped on terrorists who attack Indian soldiers, and whether the TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao
“who is with (AIMIM president Asaduddin) Owaisi” or “Rahul baba” can give such a strong answer.
Shah said anti-national slogans were “raised at JNU” … described as right to freedom of speech, and added that Modi government would put all those who say ‘Bharat tere tukde honge ek hazaar’ behind bars.
On the reported comments of National Conference leader Omar Abdullah that Kashmir should have a Premier, he said Congress president Rahul Gandhi should clarify before the country if he concurred with his statement.
As long as BJP existed, Kashmir would remain an integral part of the country and none can take it away from India, he said. The opposition parties work for the security of their families in place of national security, he added.
Alleging that the opposition parties did not favour removing infiltrators from the country, he said the BJP government would remove each one of the infiltrators in the country.
He highlighted the promises in BJP’s manifesto, including financial assistance to farmers and social security pensions to small traders and farmers.
The BJP’s manifesto released Monday is nothing but a document to make the country great, Shah said.
“Can the tukda-tukda gang, Rahul baba and company give competent leadership to the country? Can give strong goverment? Only Narendra Modi ji can give strong Government to the country,” he said.
Shah also targetted Telangana Chief Minister and TRS President, K Chandrasekhar Rao, and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for their alliance and asked: “Can KCR (as the Chief Minister is referred to by many) become PM of this country in any circumstance?”
Noting that the BJP respects the mandate of the people in the recent Assembly elections in Telangana in which the TRS returned to power, Shah pointed out that the coming Lok Sabha elections are to “choose the Prime Minister of the country, to choose Modi and BJP”.
Shah said the Modi Government gave Telangana central funds of over Rs 2.45 lakh crore in the last five years, while the previous UPA regime gave only Rs 16,500 crore. He also attacked TRS of being a “dynastic party” just like the Congress. Telangana goes to polls in the first phase on April 11 and campaigning came to an end on Tuesday. (PTI)
