One more step towards strengthening CAPFs / borders

Realising that it is not a onetime requirement but on a persistent basis that with the tinge of modernisation on latest available technology and weaponry, our borders in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh need to be strengthened, the approval accorded by the Government to an amount of Rs.1523 crore for the purpose, therefore, shall go a long way in meeting the objective. A plan of five years, as such, thought of for the process of procuring state-of- the -art weapons and modern version of the IT infrastructure for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) shall commence shortly. Since operational efficiency as also operational preparedness of such forces to effectively man the borders as also have its usual impact on internal security is paramount, the entire exercise should undergo periodic reviewing especially in matters of improvement in required infrastructure and to address emerging IT upgrading solutions.
We have, on continuous pattern, to keep the entire scenario concerning borders undergo the process of modernisation and provision for providing the requisite requirements of latest weapons to the Central Armed police Forces as such forces are the ”first line of defence” of the borders not only in respect of and along the International Border (IB) , Line of Control (LoC), Line of Actual Control (LAC) but a great role to play in vulnerable areas ”from within” like Pakistan sponsored terrorism , Left Wing extremism, insurgency affected areas in the North East, sensitive and strategic UTs like Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir and the like. Such a vast and wide field of demanding prerequisites enjoin upon the Government to accord priorities to address them suitability so that operational capabilities and preparedness were perfectly in tune with demanding conditions. Each of these forces, needless to add, are performing to their known capabilities of the highest order, be it maintaining internal security, containing and fighting terrorism, insurgency, keeping superb vigil on borders and protecting their sanctity, protecting vital and most sensitive and strategically important installations hence regarding readying for meeting any challenges , therefore, the need to be equipped with the latest in weapons and technology is increasingly felt and must be regularly addressed.
