One killed, five injured in road mishaps

JAMMU, July 19: One person was killed while five others were injured in two separate road mishaps in city and its outskirts.
According to a police spokesman, a pedestrian identified as Rohit Kumar Patil (45) son of Bhagirathi Patil, resident of Chattisgarh (at present Bawe Talab) was killed on the spot when a speeding Tata Mobile hit him at Bawe Talab.
“The dead body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where after conducting post mortem it was handed over to its legal heirs for last rites”, the spokesman said, adding a case in this connection was registered and investigations started.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old boy sustained injuries due to fall from a moving mini-bus at Mera Mandrian area of Akhnoor. The injured boy was identified as Akshay son of Bittu Ram, resident of Akhnoor. Similarly, a man identified as Jeetinder Lal (35) son of Nand Lal, resident of Toph (Paloura), also got injured when he fell from a mini-bus at Rehari.
Two women identified as Anju (45) wife of Satish Kumar and Hema wife of Davinder, both residents of Bagh-e-Bahu were injured when a scooty on which they were travelling, was hit by a rashly driven truck at Greater Kailash. A pedestrian identified as Deepu (14) son of Seupojun Yadav, resident of Bihar (at present Gujjar Nagar), was hut and injured by a speeding car at Gujjar Nagar.
All the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment while the concerned police had taken cognizance in all the cases.
