NEW DELHI, July 19:
Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Ministry is implementing two flagship skill India schemes known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) on pan-India basis to cover the prospective youth, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply, Skill Development and Entrepre-neurship Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, “PMKVY 2016-20 aims to train one crore youth for four years with a total outlay of Rs 12,000-crore.”
”PMKVY has envisaged to impart skilling/ up-skilling trainings to prospective youth of the country through Short Term training and Recognition of Prior Learning through accredited and affiliated training partner / training centres,” he informed. ”Under PMKVY 2016-20 , total of 3,362 centres are affiliated. Out of which, 26 are in Himachal Pradesh”, Mr Rudy said.
Under PMKK, the Government intends to establish model aspirational skill centres in every district in the country for imparting skill training through PMKVY, the Minister stated.
”Talking specifically about Himachal Pradesh, the Minister said,”Under PMKK, out of total 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh, four districts including Shimla have already been allocated PMKKs”, he remarked.
Under state engagement component of PMKVY, a target to train 49,499 candidates for four years (2016-2020) has been approved for the state of Himamchal Pradesh covering all the districts including Shimla, the Minister noted. (UNI)
