One killed, 3 injured in road accidents

JAMMU, June 8: One person was killed and three others were injured today in separate road accidents in city outskirts.
According to police sources, one unknown Army vehicle which was on its way from Jammu to Akhnoor this afternoon hit a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AT-6346 from backside at Purkhoo near Sham Lal Mills. They said that in the mishap, the bike rider Ajeet Kumar son of Natha Ram of Channu Chak died on the spot while the driver of the Army vehicle fled from the spot along with the vehicle.
“Acting swiftly, a team of Kanachak police headed by Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar laid a naka at Sua Number 1 and stop different Army vehicles and with the help of CCTV footage as well as other witnesses worked out the case within 2 hours of occurrence of the accident,” they said, adding the accused driver named Naik Sawant (SK No 15585845H) was arrested and the Army vehicle (Stallion 17D204259H) seized.
They said that the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem while a case FIR No 86/2020 under Sections 279/304-A IPC was registered in police station Kanachak.
Meanwhile, a speeding car hit a motorcycle near KK Resort in Pounichak area and injured its rider namely Dhruv Dev Singh (25) son of Balbeer Singh of Pallanwala (Akhnoor) while as an unknown woman pedestrian was hit and injured by an unknown vehicle at Malik Market falling under the jurisdiction of police post Bathindi. Both the injured were shifted to GMCH Jammu for treatment and concerned police had taken cognizance in both cases.
At main stop Janipur, a man identified as Gulshan Kumar (30) son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Kot Bhalwal received injuries after a bike on which he was travelling, was hit by a rashly driven car this evening. He was hospitalized while Janipur police had taken cognizance of the matter.
