One killed, 17 hurt in two accidents

SAMBA, July 1: One person was killed while at least 17 others injured in two separate road accidents in district Samba today.
A police spokesman said that a bike rider was killed while three others injured when two motor-cycles collided at a Puli near Suankha in Vijaypur area today. These boys had gone to see the fair. Both the bikes were in speed when hit. While young Rahul, son of Jaswant Rai, resident of Yad Avtal was killed on the spot, three other seriously injured were rushed to Ramgarh hospital and then referred to GMC hospital, Jammu.
The victims were identified as Sona Kumar of Yad Avtal village (Ramgarh), Mukesh Kumar and Anil Kundal, residents of village Kothe in R S Pura. The police has taken cognizance of the matter. The body of the youth was handed over to the family after conducting postmortem.
Meanwhile, at least 14 persons were injured when a bus collided with the truck near Ghagwal in district Samba today. The mishap took place when Rajasthan Roadways bus No. RJ-1GPCO/0729 hit a truck No. JK05A/7465 from the back. Both the vehicles were moving towards Jammu from Pathankote side.
All the injured including driver were rushed to local hospital and some of them to district hospital Samba. The victims were identified as bus driver Kanhya Lal, Kamlesh Devi, Ravel Singh, Arvind Sangral, Pran Kumar, Manjit Singh, Prince, Narinder Saini, Balwinder Kumar, Chanchal Kumar, Lal Singh, Seema devi, Chuni Lal and Ashish Jain, hailing from Rajasthan.
Ghagwal police registered a case in this connection and started investigation.
