One dies, 2 hurt in accident

Akhnoor, July 7: One person was killed and two others were injured in a tragic road accident in the Chowki Choura area of Akhnoor last night.

The incident occurred when a car (JK11A-4854) lost control, skidded off the road, and plunged into a deep gorge on the Jammu-Poonch National Highway (NH-144A).

Raju Sharma, son of Dev Raj, a resident of Kalakote, died on the spot, police said.

The other occupants of the car Roshan Lal, son of Sham Lal, resident of Kangri Berippatan and Tushar Raina son of Madan Lal, resident of Kalakote sustained injuries. With the help of locals and the police, both injured individuals were taken to the nearby Chowki Choura Hospital. After receiving initial treatment, they were referred to the Medical College in Jammu.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the police arrived at the scene and initiated relief and rescue operations. A case has been registered, and an investigation into the case of the accident is underway.
