RAMBAN, May 31: Police here today organized a one-day conference of Police officers to deliberate on the recommendations and directives emerging from the recent DG/IG conference, with a focus on enhancing policing standards, operational preparedness and public safety across the district.
A series of lectures and interactive sessions were conducted by senior officers, including SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, Senior Prosecuting Officer Ashwani Kumar, DySP Headquarters Vikar Batt, PDySP DAR Kuldeep Sharma, DSP Operations Manisha Kumari, SDPO Banihal Surinder Billoria and the team from District Forensic Mobile Unit (DFMU).
The sessions covered a wide range of critical issues, including internal security, intelligence gathering, strengthening information networks, recent intelligence inputs, hybrid terrorism and emerging security challenges. Officers were also sensitized to common shortcomings in the investigation of heinous crimes such as homicide, NDPS cases, forgery, burglary, theft, and organized crime, which often impact prosecution and conviction rates.
The conference highlighted the effective use of modern technological platforms, including NATGRID, GANDHIV, SUDERSHAN, CCTNS, ICJS and CyTrain, for improving day-to-day policing and investigation.
The District Forensic Mobile Unit shared its experiences in crime scene management and forensic response, particularly in connection with sensational homicide cases reported in the district.
Addressing the participants, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta stressed the importance of implementing the recommendations of the DG/IG Conference at the district level. He underscored the need for continuous learning, operational readiness and public-centric policing to effectively tackle evolving security and crime challenges.
The conference concluded with detailed deliberations on actionable points and enhancing the overall efficiency of policing in the district.
