Srinagar, May 10: Government today said that former Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, is misleading the people and creating chaos as he wants to unsettle the State by raising issues like establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir.
The Education Minister and senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Naeem Akhtar, while addressing a press conference here today said: “He just wants Jammu and Kashmir to be unsettled, to see that peace does not return to this place because it does not suit them. He is misleading the people and trying to create chaos.”
Akhtar said that process of establishment of Sainik Colony was started in his presence and he attended three meetings regarding this. “The process was started in his (Omar Abdullah) tenure, in his presence with his endorsement. Four meetings have taken place during his tenure and three he himself attended”, he said.
The PDP leader described the Omar’s behavior as irresponsible in Government and in opposition. “If it is wrong now, it was wrong then. So it is irresponsible behavior in Government and it is irresponsible behavior now when he is in opposition. He is accusing present Government for creating a ruse for settling non-state Subjects in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Akhtar said that the recent order by Supreme Court for conduct of NEET for admission to MBBS and BDS courses would have no impact on the State with regard to composition of students.
Naeem said that only exam conducting agency for MBBS and BDS entrance test would change from BOPEE to CBSE. NEET will only conduct examination via CBSE while rest of the procedure will be done by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE).
“We have been allowed to continue with our eligibility criteria wherein the first point is that only State subjects should be selected for State Medical Colleges. No non-local student would be admitted in the State Medical Colleges and all the reservations that were in vogue earlier would continue to remain in practice,” he said.
