Old mortar shell recovered

SAMBA, Dec 8: A rusted old mortar shell was found in Chak Fakira village of Samba sector yesterday evening. As soon as the information was received, Border Police Post in-charge, Naresh Kumar reached the spot and laid siege of the area.
According to the information, the shell was recovered late on Wednesday evening during the excavation of the defence ditch being built along the border. It is believed that it was dropped here during Pakistani shelling as the border is only three kms away from this place. The outpost in-charge informed the Bomb Disposal Squad about the shell and the Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot and took it to a safe place and neutralized the mortar shell.
