Octogenarian charred to death

SRINAGAR, Sept 18: An octogenarian was charred to death in a blaze incident at Kulgam district of south Kashmir, police said here.
A police spokesman said that fire broke out in the house of 85 year-old Abdul Satar Shan, who was a resident of Kelam in Devsar area of Kulgam, resulting in his death in the blaze. “In this incident, the house owner was charred inside the house and died,” the spokesman said, adding: “Fire tenders and police brought the fire under control. After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his family for last rites.
The spokesman said that a case has been registered in this regard and police have started investigations.
The police spokesman said in another incident, fire broke out in the Meghdoot hotel at Kohna Khan in Dalgate, resulting in damage to the structure. “Fire tenders and police brought the fire under control,” the police spokesman added.
