BJP ridicules statement of Congress leader

JAMMU, Sept 18: Terming the recent statement of senior Congress leader and former Minister, Dr Manohar Lal that BJP is promoting liquor sale in the City of Temples as baseless, misleading and politically motivated, the Party outright rejected these allegations.
Rebutting the allegation, BJP State spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan said that the Congress leader must get himself acquainted with the accurate information as to who has promoted liquor sale in Jammu. “It was Congress, NC and other parties, which have ruled the State for maximum period after 1947”, said Balbir, adding that the Congress leader must verify first, which Government issued license to 300 liquor shops about which he is referring to rather than labeling BJP as promoter of liquor sale.
He said that people are well aware as to under whose rule the liquor trade has flourished in Jammu.
“It seems strange that today Congress leader is speaking on the harmful effects of liquor for the Dogra culture but will he clarify whether liquor was a tonic and Amrit for the people during Congress rule, when licenses for its sale were issued”, he further said.  He advised the Congress leader not to issue misleading statements for the sake of cheap publicity.
