JAMMU, Mar 14: Nehru Yuva Kendra Jammu today organized a 5-day-long Border Area Youth Exchange programme at Saraswati Dham, Jammu.
As per a statement, the programme that was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Baldev Singh Billawaria, aimed at bringing together 50 participants from each of the five districts of Uttrakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan to discuss and address the problems faced by both border and non-border district youths.
“The participants will share their experiences and possible solutions, as well as strategies to facilitate national unity, integrity, and peace in their respective states,” it said.
Guests of honour at the event included Padamshree Dr S P Verma, social and peace activist, and Dinesh Gupta, Member, J&K State Red Cross Advisory Board.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Deputy Mayor of JMC, emphasized the need for sensitization, motivation, and participation of youths from both border and non-border districts.
He encouraged them to share their distinct socio-economic, cultural, and environmental situations and participate in such programs where their thoughts can become the vision of India.
Dinesh Gupta, Member, J&K Red Cross Advisory Board, highlighted the mission of the Indian Red Cross and its contribution to creating a more congenial climate for peace.
Dr SP Varma praised the NYK for its grassroots approach and called for providing common platforms for youth to be heard and share their experiences, problems, and concerns.
During the programme, youth from different states shared their experiences, problems, and solutions related to border area issues. Cultural performances were also presented by participants from different states, showcasing their rich heritage.
