Nud Health Centre found locked; doctors, staff absent

JAMMU, Mar 21: When nation is grappling with dreaded Coronavirus and an added responsibility has been put on shoulders of doctors and para medical staff working in hospitals and medical colleges of the UT, but much to the charging of suffering people the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre PHC Nud in Samba was found totally locked today.
The patients suffering from various ailments who came for check up to the Wellness Centre were surprised to see it locked and no staff member was present there. The medicines were lying scattered in a room but there was no doctor or para medical staff present to check up the patients and prescribe medicines to them.
The people who had accompanied the patients to this Primary Health Centre said that they were left with no alternative but to get their patients examined at private clinic as no body was available at Health Centre Nud.
The people of the area while expressing their dismay and concern said that the Government has cancelled leave of doctors and para medical staff and they were supposed to be present in the hospital as it is a state of emergency at present. Terming it a serious issue and dereliction of duty on the part of the hospital staff, they demanded a thorough probe into the matter as how the hospital was locked on a working day when the services of doctors and hospital staff were needed most in view of Coronavirus threat.
