JAMMU, Apr 22: A strong procession was taken out by National Panthers Party activists in Jammu city seeking public support on the issue of AIIMS in Jammu.
Led by chairman of the party and former Education Minister Harshdev Singh, State president Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal- State president Young Panthers, the support march was started from Dogra Chowk and they after passing through several markets of Jammu city finally culminated their march at City Chowk this afternoon.
The vociferous protestors raised the slogans – `Jammu Ka AIIMS Jammu Ko Do, ….`24 Ko Kya Hai- Jammu Bandh’,….. `Nai Rozgar Niti Wapis Lo’ and ….’Jammu Ke Sath Bhed Bhav Bandh Karo’.
Addressing the massive gathering at City Chowk Harshdev lambasted the Union and State Governments for transferring of prestigious AIIMS to Kashmir for mere crumbs of power. He appealed to all the political parties, social organizations, youth and intellectuals, traders and businessmen and all the citizens to observe complete bandh on April 24, 2015 as a mark of protest against the discrimination meted out to Jammu region.
Meanwhile, chief patron of NPP Prof Bhim Singh has made a strong appeal to the civil society in Jammu including the youth and student organizations irrespective of their political affiliations or ideological attachments to make ‘Jammu Bandh’ a success to wake up the State and Central rulers about the discrimination being committed to the youth, students and the civil society.
Prof Singh said that the NPP has been fighting for the common cause which include AIIMS in J&K, delimitation in J&K, ST status to the Paharis, comprehensive settlement of nearly 15 lakhs homeless, landless, support less and helpless refugees from Pak & PoK for the past six decades.
Jammu West Assembly Movement held protest against the new recruitment policy of this BJP-PDP Coalition Govt and anti Jammu policies of the Govt with regard to shifting AIIMS to Valley. The protestors raised slogans against the Govt.
Leader of the organization Sunil Dimple called for Jammu Bandh on April 24 against the toll tax at Ban Talab, new recruitment policy and against shifting of AIIMS to Valley.
Extending support of NPP’s Jammu bandh call, State president, Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan appealed to all social and political parties to join struggle launched by Panthers for setting up All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) & Hospital in Jammu.
In a statement issued today, Rajiv Mahajan said that BJP, for coming to power has sacrificed the issues of Jammuites and discrimination against Jammu region is leading Jammu region to a State of uncertainty which is suicidal for all.
He stressed upon the need of pressurizing Jammu based ministers and both Central and State Governments so that they do not undermine the strength of Jammu region and sanction AIIMS for Jammu.
