JAMMU, Apr 4: Gujjar Nagar Police arrested a notorious thief and recovered stolen items worth Rs 60,000.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged at Police Post Gujjar Nagar by a person namely Rafiq Ahmed, son of Abdul Ghani Lone of District Anantnag Kashmir, at present Prem Nagar Jammu stating that his readymade clothes and hosiery worth Rs 55000 to 60000 were stolen by some unknown thieves from his car bearing registration number JK03J-5481.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 20/2022 under relevant sections was registered at Police Station Peer Mitha and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Police Post Gujjar Nagar led by PSI Ajaz Ahmed was constituted under the supervision of SHO Peer Mitha Inspector Zaheer Mushtaq, SDPO City Sharad Kalu and SP City Kulbir Handa.
The team did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV cameras footages of the area finally arrested the thief, who was identified as Iftar Ali, son of Muzzafer Din of Kotli Bai Mageni District Udhampur, at present Tali Morh Doordarshan Lane Janipur District Jammu.
On his disclosure, stolen items worth Rs 60,000 were recovered.
It is pertinent to mention that accused is a notorious thief and was involved in many theft cases earlier also.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
