JAMMU, Jan 15: A notorious criminal, who was evading his arrest since long was arrested from Simbal Camp area of Miran Sahib police station along with pistol.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Miran Sahib police station conducted raid in Simbal Camp area and arrested a notorious criminal, who was at large since long.
The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Rocky, son of late Labh Singh, a resident of Ward Number 4, Simbal Camp.
Gurpreet Singh along with Tajinder Singh alias Happy had attacked Dilbag Singh (head of Dilbag Gang), son of Janak Singh and Atinder Pal Singh, a resident of Ward Number 4, Simbal Camp on November 7, 2015 with sharp edged weapons and also snatched pistol from Atinder Pal Singh.
Gurpreet Singh and Tajinder Singh left the State and hide themselves in Patiala, Punjab. Finally Miran Sahib police arrested Gurpreet as soon as he entered Simbal Camp.
Gurpreet is second-in-command of Sunny Gang, which is being headed by Paramjeet Singh alias Sunny, who is presently in Kot Bhalwal Jail under Public Safety Act (PSA). This gang is having old rivalry with Dilbag Gang, owing to which Gurpreet and his associate attacked Dilbag Singh. Tajinder Singh alias Happy is still at large and hunt is going on to nab him.
The pistol, which Gurpreet had snatched from Atinder Pal Singh has also been recovered by the police.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
The arrest and recovery was made by a team from Miran Sahib police station led by SHO Hilal Azhar under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters Jammu RC Kotwal and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
