SAMBA, Sept 20: A notorious criminal was booked under stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), here today.
As per police sources, a notorious criminal identified as Vipan Kumar Gupta alias Jhony, son of Sat Paul Gupta of Ward Number 6, Bari Brahmana has been booked under PSA on the directions of District Magistrate.
The accused was a notorious criminal and drug peddler and was found involved in various criminals activities and drug peddling. He had not only created multifarious law and order problems but also disturbing the peace and tranquility in the area.
Police compiled all the police record of Vipan Kumar Gupta from various police stations of District Samba and other Districts, prepared dossier and got issued his warrant under PSA from District Magistrate, Samba to prevent him from indulging in prejudicial criminal and drug peddling activities.
A team from Bari-Brahmna police station arrested the accused and lodged him in Sub Jail Hiranagar, after execution of warrant under PSA.
