JAMMU, Sept 20: The patients in Super Speciality Hospital (SSH) Jammu today heaved a sigh of relief with the restoration of all essential services in the hospital even as the Need Based Mechanical Workers continued their strike.
According to the reliable sources in the hospital, while water and electricity supply was restored on the very 2nd day of the indefinite strike of the Need Based Mechanical Workers, all the three AC plants of the hospital and RO plant were made functional today. However, as far as lifts are concerned, only one out of the five is functioning while four others are closed since long due to maintenance reason.
Reliable sources told Excelsior that there are three AC plants of 225 ton each in the hospital and all the three were made functional today. “However, only two plants are being run at a time and the third is being used as a standby, as per previous practice”, they said.
“Moreover, RO plant of the hospital was also made functional this evening after proper maintenance and service done by the engineer of the company, which had installed the plant”, the sources said, adding, dialysis were also done on two patients today. “Two NOs of the hospital are being trained by the Company engineer in handling RO plant”, they added.
The sources further disclosed that even some surgeries were also conducted today after a gap of about 5-days, as the same could not be conducted due to inadequate cooling in the Operation Theatres.
As far as lifts are concerned, the sources said only one is functional while other four are closed. “These four lifts are not closed due to strike of the workers but these are non-functional since a long time, as no maintenance was ever done since their installation apparently due to non-release of funds by GMC authorities”, they claimed.
However, nobody from hospital administration or Mechanical Division of the hospital could be contacted for comments despite repeated attempts.
