NMC for excluding DA amount from salary in calculating income tax

JAMMU, June 28: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed the Finance Minister to announce non-inclusion of amount of DA in calculating income tax as the DA instalments.
Addressing a well-attended workers meet here, NMC president, Subhash Shastri said that the price escalation and inflation in the country is directly linked with the DA of the salaried class and pensioners but it is strange that income tax is also imposed on the increase of salaries become of DA. He said that there is no justification of imposing income tax on DA.
He added that all these burning issues impacting both the Central and State Governments employees and pensioners should be addressed by the Union Finance Minister while presenting the upcoming union budget for 2019-20 in the Parliament on July 5, 2019.
Expressing concern over the undue delay in accepting and implementing the recommendation of Ashok Lavasa Committee set up of by the Central Government to review the structure of pay anomalies pertaining to lower staff, Shastri appealed the Prime Minister to intervene into the matter to settle it on priority basis so that benefit of recommendations of the Lavasa committee reached to the aggrieved employees.
Calling for documents time and again from the poor working class of daily rated workers has irritated them, because the production of record has not yet met any conclusion for their regularization, he added. Besides this, he said that they have not been paid salary on regular basis and their arrears run from 1 to 3 years.
He also stressed on the need to enhance Medical Allowance of State pensioners on the analogy of Central Government pattern.
