JAMMU, Mar 14: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed the Lt Governor GC Murmu to release the installment of 4% DA due from January this year in favor of J&K employees and pensioners.
President of NMC Subhash Shastri said that Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already given its approval to the release of an additional installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees, and Dearness Relief (DR) to pensioners with effect from 1-1-2020 representing an increase of 4% over the existing rate of 17% of the Basic Pay/Pension.
Shastri said that UT Government should immediately release 4% DA installment to compensate for price rise, so that employees and pensioners of UT Jammu & Kashmir Government may get sigh of relief from rising trend of price index and inflation.
This increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), Shastri said this while addressing a well-attended NMC workers meet here.
“In view of the increasing prices, the release of pending installments of the DA has become imperative. The budgetary provision for this purpose had already been made in the 2019-20 Budget, so the State Government should not have any problem in releasing it,” he said.
Pleading the cause of working class, particularly the daily wagers, Shastri called for their immediate regularization as they had high hopes from the Lt Governor GC Murmu. He hoped that the State Government takes a positive decision in this regard without any further delay.
