Nehru reviews developmental activities of MC Bari-Brahmana

JAMMU, Dec 10: Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Satesh Nehru conducted a surprise inspection of Municipal Committee, Bari Brahmana today.
The Secretary took detailed review of functioning of the Municipal Committee and also implementation of various development programme undertaken by the Municipal Committee, Bari Brahmana.
The Secretary was informed that various development activities are underway which are aimed at improving the civic amenities in the town. He was further informed that against the total revenue target of 75 lakh, the Committee has realized 45 lakh so far against which 42 lakh have been spent for execution of various emergent  public works,  such as  sanitation, street lights spray of disinfects and other miscellaneous items.
During the inspection all the safaikaramcharis who were on strike for the last four days due to non-payment of salaries/ wages met the Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department and requested for immediate release of their salaries/wages.
Nehru gave them patient  hearing and issued on spot directions to the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Bari Brahmana to release the salary/wages of the safaikaramcharis within a day and report compliance of the order.
He also assured them that their entire pending salary dues will be released to them with a week’s time and asked Director Urban Local Bodies, Jammu (DULB) to pursue the matter with concerned treasury officer as the funds for the purpose stand released.
After holding the meeting with the employees of the Municipal Committee, the Secretary visited the under construction Community Hall and newly constructed Municipal Park adjacent the national highway. He issued on spot directions to Executive Engineer, Local Bodies to prepare the site Plan, frame the estimate for construction of restaurant and toilet facility on the vacant land adjacent to Municipal Park.
