NAGROTA, Nov 5: Saying that track record of National Conference has been impeccable; Provincial President Devender Singh Rana today sought people’s holistic support for realising the vision of inclusive development of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
“Ours is a unique state which needs unique approach to ensure overall development of all the regions and their sub regions”, Mr Rana said while addressing workers at Nagrota this afternoon. He added that National Conference alone was capable of achieving this objective given its presence in every nook and corner of the state.
He said National Conference has always disapproved the politics of division and strived for putting the state on the path of development and progress. Sustaining peace and touching new pinnacles of development has in fact been main plank of the party which is credited with heralding a new era of hope after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took over the reins of administration in most challenging situation in 2009.
“Past six years have proved that nothing is unachievable if there is sincerity of purpose”, he said adding that the state has traversed a long way in satiating people’s aspiration on development and economic fronts.
Referring to ensuing elections, Mr Rana hoped for a healthy political discourse by the participating parties and individuals during electioneering, saying rhetoric have no place as the people were yearning for peace and development. “As far as National Conference is concerned, we are coming to meeting the urges and aspirations of the people at all costs”, he said and spelled out broad features of the Omar led Government during the past six years. He also made a mention of path breaking initiative like holding of Panchayat Elections, enactment of Public Services Guarantee Act, Right to Information Act, carving out of new administrative units, reconstitution of Accountability Commission, formation of Vigilance Commission and launching of various schemes like Udaan and Himayat for generating employability. He said this process will be carried forward with renewed vigour with the support of people.
On the occasion, a prominent BJP leader of Nagrota Madan Lal Sharma joined National Conference along with his supporters and pledged his support to forward looking policies of the party. A prominent Gujjar leader Amir-ud-Din Kasana and his supporters also joined the party and assured to work for strengthening it at the grass roots level.
Welcoming the BJP and Gujjar activists in the party fold, Mr Rana said that united approach is necessary for realising the dream of transforming Nagrota as a model constituency. “This will be in consonance with our vision of making this area as Nava Jammu given its huge potential”, he declared.
Mr Rana also dwelt upon the initiatives taken in recent years for holistic development of Nagrota and said a sound edifice has been laid for futuristic growth of the constituency. This calls for massive public support, he maintained.
