DODA/KISHTWAR, June 4: Accusing PDP-BJP coalition of plunging Jammu and Kashmir into unprecedented political uncertainty, National Conference today expressed anguish over slow pace of development, dwindling economic activity and vitiated atmosphere in the backdrop of one after another controversy generated to divert the attention of people from real issues.
“The tall claims made during elections and dreams shown by the PDP and BJP to their respective constituencies have fallen flat with people feeling pinch of mis-governance, giving rise to disenchantment and disillusionment”, Provincial President Devender Singh Rana said while addressing the party conventions at Doda and Kishtwar.
Mr Rana said the inflated balloon of the PDP-BJP government has deflated even before completion of its hundred days in the office with inherent contradictions between the two, leaving administration in complete disarray. The disenchantment and disillusionment among people have crossed all limits which is a reflection on performance of the Government, he added.
“The most intriguing aspect of the government is treatment meted out to the flood sufferers and the border dwellers, whose plight was exploited to hilt by the PDP and BJP before, during and after the elections”, Mr Rana said and referred to most dilapidated condition of various utility services, which are still craving for attention and restoration. The much hyped central assistance continues to remain a distant dream. “Whatever paltry assistance is being provided to the sufferers especially the farmers, whose standing crops were completely destroyed has already evoked a huge controversy”, he said adding to the widespread complaints of unfair distribution. He also regretted over the sufferers being discriminated on their party affiliations.
Mr Rana cautioned the government not to test patience of people and said the time has come when the coalition dispensation must appear to be performing rather than dilly dallying.  “If the people can vote, they have the right and might to negate howsoever mighty the political players must be considering themselves”, he added.
The Provincial President also charged the Government of negating the gains of Omar led Government and said the big effort launched for public welfare has been spilled down the drain. He expressed resolve of National Conference to fight the anti-people policies of the present coalition Government, saying the mass movement of Sher-e-Kashmir has a track record of safeguarding public interest.
The Conventions were also addressed by the former Minister, Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, former legislator Khalid Najeeb Suharwardy, former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman and senior leaders Th Kashmira Singh, Babu Rampal, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad, Brij Mohan Sharma, Tanvir Ahmad Kitchloo, Surinder Singh Bunty and  Rohit Bali.
Exhorting the party cadre to guard against machinations of PDP and BJP in dividing the society, Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo said the Government with acute divergence of agenda has been unsuccessfully been pretending convergence, as a result of which the people have been rendered as the end sufferers.
He called for collective efforts to dilute whatever influence peace inimical elements enjoy, saying that society will have to rise in unison to say ‘no’ to their machinations.
Former MP, Sheikh Abdul Rehman castigated the PDP and BJP for taking the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh for a ride just to remain in power by hook or crook. He said the two parties were hoodwinking public opinion to derive political mileage.
“They can fool people once but not always”, he said, adding that the people were sagacious enough to see through their game-plan. The mismatch of the two coalition partners has already made the people to suffer.
Senior leaders Th Kashmira Singh and Babu Rampal urged the cadre to close their rank and file for fighting the anti-youth and anti-people polices of the government.
Brij Mohan Sharma and Sheikh Bashir Ahmad while addressing the conventions called upon the party rank and file to come forward and take programme and polices of the party at every door step.
Tanvir Kitchloo, District President Kishtwar also addressed the convention and highlighted the problems faced to the people in his district.
