NAGROTA, Nov 19: Saying the concept of Nava Jammu is designed to transform the socio-economic landscape of   Nagrota, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today exhorted the people of the constituency to join him in a big way to translate this vision into reality.
“We have already taken a modest stride towards this destination during the past few year and time has come now to take a big leap”, he said while addressing a  series of election meetings at Bajalta and Pargalta in Nagrota constituency.
Mr Rana described the ensuing elections as defining movement for the people to chalk out for themselves an agenda that will be fulfilled in the next six years. He said carving of Nagrota as Nava Jammu does not only mean development but it also entailing creating opportunities for economic emancipation of the people, especially the youth. He said the Nava Jammu will be a destination for those believing in expansion of the capital city as greater Jammu. “The city has expanded on three directions but the most viable and close destination of Nagrota has still remained unexplored”, he said adding this handicap will be overcome by laying thrust on generating facilities required for a satellite city.
The Provincial President said that the idea of Nava Jammu has caught the imagination of people of the area and they are enthused to pursue this vision single-mindlessly. He said the concept has generated a debate with young people coming up with innovative suggestions. “This speaks of the deep yearning of the people for having this constituency a model one with all modern facilities”, he said and hoped that this mission will be accomplished with grit and determination.
Elaborating his vision, Mr Rana said Nava Jammu will unfold challenging opportunities for youth to shape their future by getting engaged into economic pursuits as the constituency has immense potential to grow as a commercial hub, residential cluster and tourist attraction being at the entry point of scenic Kashmir and Ladakh besides revered pilgrimage destinations of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnathji. He said the youth, the skilled and unskilled work force besides works men will get a big boost when economic activity will gain momentum. “This is not distant”, he said and referred to the forward looking policies of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who has given development a new dimension. He urged the people to strengthen his hands by electing National Conference candidates to ensure a stable and strong Government in the State. He said National Conference holds key to peace, progress and prosperity of the people.
The Provincial President was accompanied by Haji Mohammad Hussain ex-MLC, Ch. Arshad, Block President Rameshwar Dutt, Sarpanch Ch. Rehmat Ali, Sarpanch Girdhari Lal, Sarpanch Din Mohammad, Sarpanch Subash Singh, Sarpanch Balwant Singh, Sarpanch Sarajdin, Sewa Ram, Basant Singh, Abdul Majid Malik, Darshan Lal, Mohan Lal, Bansi Lal Sharma, Gian Chand Numberdar, Allah Rakha, Ram Krishan Sharma, Madan Lal, Yashpal Sharma, Ashok Kumar, Ch Noor Ali, Bashir Ahamd, Abdul Hamid  and others.
Mr Rana also dwelt upon modest initiatives taken during the past few years, in his capacity as Member Legislative Council, said the constituency has also benefited in  terms of development and progress during with thrust on rural development sector. He made a particular mention of schemes taken up in road, power, drinking water and rural development sectors and said these have changed the overall scenario of the constituency.
