JAMMU, July 3: Natrang in its endeavour to explore new horizons of creativity is currently introducing English Theatre amongst children through the production of world classics. One such extension programme is currently being initiated with the active support and collaboration of KC Sports Club where a 45 day workshop with children is going on in full swing.
Every year Natrang tries to bring something new to the people of Jammu and this year Natrang gives a great opportunity to the children of Jammu to avail personality development and grooming through theatre in the grand environment of KC Sports Club which is the first of its kind indoor sporting facility in the State.
The workshop is being held in the spacious 2000 square feet super spacious air-conditioned hall. The children of the theatre summer camp are enjoying the play making process, stage craft, costume designing, dance training along with summing lessons at KC Sports Club. The forty days summer camp is being headed by Aarushi Thakur who is a post graduate in International Politics from University of Leicester, United Kingdom and has undertaken training from Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London.
She has also directed various English plays including Great Expectations, Oliver Twist both adapted from Charles Dickens’s novel and an adaptation of a Japanese play ‘Rashomon’.
Natrang in collaboration with KC Sports Club will be performing an English play based on Roald Dahl’s Novel ‘Matilda’ adapted and directed by Aarushi Thakur. The whole idea of organizing these summer camps by Natrang is to give the children something fresh and new to learn.
The thirty five children participating in the workshop include Asma Gul, Vastal Khajuria, Arushi, Sanjmee Gupta, Sheen Mahajan, Sanya Gupta, Pranima Fatehpuri, Aayan Sharma, Achyut Sharma, Tulip Verma, Mishika Gupta, Yadaa Gupta, Pihu Rajput, Agrim Gupta, Akshobhya Sharma, Mayank Chandok, Sanayala Gupta, Ajay Mahajan, Tejasve Bhat, Navdha Soni, Arnav Jain, Somya Jain, Jaanika Narshal, Pragya Ganjoo, Sudaksh Raina, Chaitanya Kotwal, Yajvi Gupta, Prashant, Nitish Koul, Agam kour, Drishti Gupta and Janvika Kour. The workshop is being coordinated by Mahikshit Singh, Nitish Koul and Sachin Bamba.
