JAMMU, Dec 10: National Federation of the Blind today submitted a memorandum of demands to Farooq Khan, Advisor to Lt Governor of J&K, who visited the Louis Braille Memorial Residential School for Sightless Girls at Roop Nagar, here today.
In the memorandum, the Federation has requested to provide JDA land adjacent to Louis Braille Memorial Residential School for Sightless Girls at Roop Nagar, which needs expansion in view of increasing number of visually challenged girls.
The Federation also demanded four teachers from School Education Department on deputation basis in this school, which also needs upgradation from Middle to Higher Secondary level.
The Federation also sought financial aid to it for providing all the basic faculties to the sightless girls and stressed for special recruitment drive for the visually impaired educated youth.
Prof Kusumalata Malik, Project Director and Chairperson of Women, National Federation of the Blind, India and Mohinder K Badyal, Convenor of the Federation, hoped that the Government would consider these demands as priority issues in the action plan and policies of the J&K Government.
