Nasir inaugurates workshop on census data dissemination

Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani at workshop on census data dissemination on Wednesday.
JAMMU, Dec 26: Minister of State for Home, Nasir Aslam Wani, today inaugurated two-day workshop on data dissemination, organized by Census Department. The workshop is being held in collaboration with UNFPA and UNWOMEN and is being attended by senior officers of the State Government.
Director Census, R.K. Baghat and senior officers of Census Department were present on the occasion.
Addressing the officers, the Minister said that every country needs basic information on its people for purpose of planning, development and improvement of residents’ quality of life. “I am sure that this workshop will enable Head of the Departments, academicians and data users to generate information which is specific to their departments,” he said.
Mr. Nasir Aslam said that accurate census helps in justifiable fund allocations in various social strata and brings about holistic development of the State. He asked the officers to benefit optimally from the technical sessions being held during the training course.
UNICEF is supporting data dissemination of Census of India 2011 results which includes new techniques in strategies and software support.
Later, the Minister attended the first technical session in which the officers were imparted training in the enhanced version of the census info software.
