Narcotics smuggling bid foiled

RAMBAN, Feb 20: Police foiled a narcotic smuggling bid at Navyuga Tunnel in Banihal.
“During routine naka checking by police post Jawahar Tunnel at Navyuga Tunnel, one truck bearing registration number PB07BG-4241 driven by a person namely Satish Kumar son of Sadha Ram, resident of Tedewal Patti (Anandpur Sahib, district Ropar, Punjab) along-with his co-driver namely Rahul Sharma son of Raman Kumar of Bass Bhagaur (Nangal, district Ropar, Punjab) from Srinagar towards Punjab was intercepted yesterday,” police sources said.
They said during checking, 4 kilogram of Poppy straw like substance was recovered from the tool box of the truck. In this connection, a case FIR Number 28/2022 U/S 8/15 of NDPS Act was registered at police station Banihal and further investigation started.
The overall recovery and arrest was made by the police team headed by PSI Harish Kumar Incharge PP Jawahar Tunnel under the supervision of Inspector Nayeem-ul-Haq, SHO Banihal.
