JAMMU, Feb 29: Principal Sessions Judge Ramban, Kishore Kumar has rejected the bail application of one Abid Ahmed Sofi, son of Gul Mohd Sofi of Anantnag, who was nabbed with 70 kilograms of poppy straw.
After hearing both the sides, the court observed, “no one can be allowed to play with the lives of others who have committed no crime. There is every possibility of repeating the same offence by the accused. So far as liberty of a person is concerned, in this regard, the liberty of a person is not more important that the safety of innocent young generation, the future of the nation”.
“The objective behind enactment of NDPS Act is to curb the ever increasing menace of drug peddling and illegal possession, sale and its ramification on the society no good ground is made out by the petitioner for enlarging him on bail”, the court said while rejecting the plea.
