Narayana Hospital launches Dr Varshney’s book on Orthopaedics

JAMMU, Mar 10: SMVD Narayana Super Speciality Hospital launched a book on Orthopaedics written by its senior Orthopaedics & Joint Replacement Surgeon, Dr Manish Kumar Varshney, in a function held here today.
The 2nd edition of the book “Essential Orthopaedics-Principles & Practice” is a comprehensive text covering Orthopaedics and allied topics for medical students pursuing their PG in Orthopaedic Surgery while it also covers the latest advances in the field for faculty practitioners.

The book consists of basic and advanced details regarding Orthopaedics including, bone anatomy, physiology, pathology, joint structure, function, pediatric Orthopaedics, Sports Medicine & Regional Orthopaedics and their disorders along with surgical and medical management and complications.
Dr Manish Kumar Varshney unveiled the book along with Dr Abdul Gani and Dr Sanjeev Gupta, renowned senior Orthopaedic surgeons of Jammu. The book is published by Jaypee Publishers Limited and is available online.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Manish informed that this is the second and expanded edition of the book. He believes that the book will certainly help medical students and professionals in the field to gain in-depth knowledge.
“Modern surgery is continually evolving to such an extent that the knowledge and technical skills required have led the surgeons and practitioners specializing in specific specialty/super specialty or even in a particular technique to keep abreast with the rapid advances. This makes it even more important for us to educate students in a holistic manner and help them acquire all the necessary advancing knowledge required to excel”, added Dr Varshney.
Continuing with its philanthropic initiatives, the hospital also distributed five of these books to disadvantaged medical students pursuing Orthopaedics and it was announced on the occasion that copies of the book will also be donated to all three medical colleges in the State for a larger readership and benefit.
