JAMMU, Dec 7: Nami Dogri Sanstha today paid tributes to Late Sham Sunder Anand Lehar, a noted literary personality and renowned legal luminary of Jammu and Kashmir, on his first death anniversary.
Galaxy of poets, writers, artists, journalists, social figures, prominent citizens and literature lovers attended the programme and recalled contribution of S S Anand Lehar for enriching Urdu and Dogri languages through his literary works.
At the outset, the portrait of Late S S Lehar was profusely garlanded followed by showering of flowers to pay homage to the departed literary personality. Capt Lalit Sharma read a detailed paper on the life and literary works of Anand Lehar touching various dimensions of his multi-faceted personality.
S S Lehar has authored fourteen books in Urdu, comprising of novels, dramas, short stories and poetry. His dozens of short stories were telecast from Doordarshan besides AIR. Based on his writings twenty episodes comprising of three serials were telecast. He wrote number of TV serials and his Radio dramas. Five students of Jammu University, Ch Charan Singh University Meerut and Delhi University have done M Phil. on his literary works. One student of Guru Nanak Dev University Punjab is doing Ph D on “Anand Lehar Fun and Shakhsiyat”. He started a project to prepare audios and CDs of Hindi poets for Urdu and vice-e-versa and released one CD on Khawaja Dil Mohammad’s translation of Bhagwat Gita in Urdu.
Sohail Kazmi described S S Lehar a friend of poor and down trodden who worked for brotherhood, fraternity, unity and prosperity of the society. Sham Talib, President, “Adbi Kunj” said that no research on Urdu novel, drama and short stories is complete without referring his writings.
Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary of the Academy, said that Lehar through his writings always highlighted the social issues and matters pertaining to the poor, week and down trodden strata of the society.
Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila said that NDS cannot forget his help and contributions for the cause of Dogri language and Dogra art and culture. Dalmotra remembered him as a frontline social activist, legal luminary, eminent literary figure, political activist and helper of week and needy.
