NUBRA, Aug 21: Senior National Conference leader and former minister Tsetan Namgyal today decried politicization of the miseries of the flood sufferers of Leh and Nobra Valley in particular, saying PDP, BJP and Congress were using the issue to further their poll prospectus during the ensuing election to Ladakh Hill Development Council.
“As a consequence, the people of Leh and Nobra, especially the flood sufferers were suffering”, Mr Namgyal said in a statement while questioning the sincerity of these parties which were staging dharnas and protests.
Mr Namgyal wondered that despite being in power at the centre and in the state the BJP and PDP activists were making hue and cry instead of prevailing upon the Governments in New Delhi and Srinagar to come to the rescue of flood sufferers. He said these parties, together with Congress, were delaying and precipitating the issue to gain maximum electoral advantage out of it.
“They should not undermine the wisdom of the people of Leh and Nobra, who are determined to teach them a lesson in the ensuing polls”, Mr Namgyal said while calling for immediate package for the region to meet the aspirations of the people and to mitigate the suffering of flood sufferers. He said the State Government and the Centre should not test patience of the people, who will be constrained to come on the streets in case their genuine demands were not fulfilled in a time-bound manner.
